Taxonomy
Tanypodites gorchonensis was named by Kalugina (1985). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PIN 2022/66, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Uda River (PIN collection 2022), which is in an Oxfordian/Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in the Uda Formation of the Russian Federation.
