Diplocynodon deponiae
Taxonomy
Baryphracta deponiae was named by Frey et al. (1987). Its type specimen is SMF Me 899, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grube Messel Pit (Senckenberg SMF collection), which is in a MP 11 crater lake claystone in the Messel Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Diplocynodon deponiae by Delfino and Smith (2012) and Rio et al. (2020).
