Taxonomy
Obolella was named by Billings (1861) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-l Cm Boto-l Sepkoski's reference number: 19,885]. It is the type genus of Obolellidae.

It was assigned to Obolellidae by Geyer (1994) and Williams et al. (2000); and to Obolellida by Bengtson (1992) and Sepkoski (2002).
