Taxonomy
Megaphyllites gebzensis was named by Fantini Sestini (1988). Its type specimen is MPUM 6121 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is T75, Section VI, Gebze area, which is in a Bithynian carbonate limestone in Turkey.
