Taxonomy
Projuvavites caucasius was named by Shevyrev (1995). Its type specimen is PIN 1477/625 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Malaya Sakhray River, Goniojuvavites-Pararcestes beds, which is in a Tuvalian marine carbonate in the Babuk Formation of the Russian Federation.
