Taxonomy
Amphiceras harpoceratoides was named by Gemmellaro (1884). It is the type species of Galaticeras.

It was recombined as Galaticeras harpoceroides by Meister and Friebe (2003); it was recombined as Galaticeras harpoceratoides by Geczy and Meister (2007) and Meister et al. (2011).
