Taxonomy
Collonia occidentalis was named by Smith (1927). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Brock Mountain, 3 miles east of Madison's ranch (Trachyceras subzone), which is in a Tuvalian carbonate limestone in the Hosselkus Formation of California.
