Taxonomy
Posidonomya blatchleyi was named by Gabb (1870). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shoshone Mountains, which is in a Pelsonian carbonate limestone in Nevada.

It was recombined as Posidonia blatchleyi by Smith (1927).
