Taxonomy
Ptychites kolymensis was named by Kiparisova (1937). Its type specimen is TsNIGR 88/5302 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Aristoptychites kolymensis by Bychkov et al. (1976) and Weitschat and Lehmann (1983).
