Taxonomy
Astraeomorpha sonorensis was named by Stanley (1994). Its type specimen is UMIP 23017A-C and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sierra del Alamo, Antimonio Formation, B2-position, which is in a Norian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Antimonio Formation of Mexico.
