Taxonomy
Chelone meyeri was named by Tholliere (1851). Its type specimen is MHNL 20015611, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerin, Jura, which is in a Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in France.
It was recombined as Hydropelta meyeri by Meyer (1860), Rütimeyer (1873), Lortet (1892) and Anquetin et al. (2017).
