Taxonomy
Ptychostoma stachei was named by Kittl (1892). Its type specimen is NHMW 1899/V/368 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Heiligen Kreuz near St. Leonhard, which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Heiligkreuz Formation of Italy.
