Glycymerita veatchii

Taxonomy
Axinaea veatchii was named by Gabb (1864). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Chico beds" - Tuscan Springs, Tehama, which is in a Coniacian coastal siliciclastic in California.

It was recombined as Pectunculus veatchi by Stanton (1896); it was recombined as Glycimeris veatchi by Waring (1917); it was recombined as Glycymeris veatchii by Stewart (1930) and Hoots (1931); it was recombined as Glycymerita veatchii by Squires (2010) and Haggart and Graham (2018).

R. L. Squires 2010Shell size small to large. Subquadrate (most specimens) to quadrate. Shell height slightly greater than shell length and with well-inflated valves. Ribs raised, narrow to very wide, and narrowly to moderately widely spaced.
