Taxonomy
Tessarolax distorta was named by Gabb (1864). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Chico beds" - Tuscan Springs, Tehama, which is in a Coniacian coastal siliciclastic in California. It is the type species of Tessarolax.
