Taxonomy
Amphicoma defuncta was named by Wickham (1910). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 14, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Lichnanthe defuncta by Yan et al. (2012) and Zhao et al. (2016).
