Turbo quadricarinatus was named by Brocchi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Mathilda, Mathilda (Mathilda).
It was recombined as Mathilda quadricarinata by Vredenburg (1928); it was recombined as Mathilda quadricarinatus by Abbass (1962); it was recombined as Mathilda (Mathilda) quadricarinata by Shuto (1974).
