Taxonomy
Orthidiella was named by Ulrich and Cooper (1936). Its type is Orthidiella longwelli.

It was assigned to Orthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Orthidiellidae by Rubel (1961), Williams et al. (2000) and Hansen and Holmer (2011).
