Taxonomy
Texasophis hecki was named by Böhme (2008). Its type specimen is SMF R 5014, a set of vertebrae (a single trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oberleichtersbach, which is in a MP 30 sinkhole siliciclastic in Germany.
