Taxonomy
Ammonites solaris was named by Phillips (1829).

It was recombined as Pleuroceras solare by Howarth (1955), Howarth (1956), Blau and Meister (1991), Meister and Friebe (2003), Elmi et al. (2009) and Bardin et al. (2013).
