Arieticeras (Grammoceras) ugdulenai was named by Gemmellaro (1885).

It was recombined as Arieticeras ugdulenai by Meister (1989) and Blau and Meister (1991); it was recombined as Leptaleoceras ugdulenai by Géczy and Meister (1998).
