It was recombined as Polyplectus pluricostata by Howarth (1992); it was recombined as Polyplectus pluricostatus by Pallini et al. (2004), Géczy and Szente (2006) and Kovács (2011); it was recombined as Polyplectus pluricostatum by Bécaud (2006) and Benzaggagh et al. (2022).
