Harpoceras pseudoserpentinum was named by Gabilly (1973).

It was synonymized subjectively with Harpoceras falciferum by Howarth (1992); it was recombined as Harpoceras (Harpoceras) pseudoserpentinum by Bécaud (2006) and Kovács (2011).
