Taxonomy
Protogryllus germanicus was named by Handlirsch (1920). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Protogryllus (Protogryllus) germanicus by Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2012).
