Diagnosis

---|---|---|
A. R. Loeblich and H. Tappan 1950 | Schubert described the genus Tribrachia in 1912, for the tri-radiate frondicularian Foraminifera, but cited no species. As the species Tribrachia inelegans Loeblich and Tappan, here described, is the first species to be published in connection with the generic name Tribrachia, it thus becomes the genotype. Test free, elongate, tapering triangular in speciation, angles truncate; about six chambers, each trifoliate in section, with sides of each radius nearly parallel, chambers increasing in breadth as added but only slightly in height; sutures distinct, depressed, very highly arched near the central portion of the test, curving far backward toward the proloculus at the angles; wall calcareous, hyaline, surface smooth; aperture terminal, radiate. |
