Bairdia convexa was named by Hou (1954). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is By203, Dalingxu ravine, Maanshan, Changyang district, which is in a Roadian marine shale in the Qixia Formation of China.
It was recombined as Cryptobairdia convexa by Kozur (1985).
