Ansehia was named by Termier and Termier (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Ansehia thecideiformis.

It was assigned to Cooperininae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
