Glaphyrophlebia delicatula was named by Bolton (1934). Its type specimen is BGS 52374, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Cefn Coed colliery (1236 feet depth), which is in a Westphalian B delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
