Blattinopsis incerta was named by Laurentiaux (1950). It is an impression. Its type locality is Fendu des Rochettes, Pont de l'Ane, between third bed and Rochettes, which is in a Stephanian B terrestrial siliciclastic in France.
It was recombined as Stephanopsis incerta by Hörnschemeyer and Stapf (2001).
