Strophalosia (Bilotina) was named by Reed (1944) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-m Sepkoski's reference number: 403,538]. Its type is Bilotina subtecta.

It was reranked as Bilotina by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Williams et al. (2000) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Strophalosia by Reed (1944); to Rhamnariinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Juresaniini by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
