Ammonites figulinus was named by Simpson (1855).

It was recombined as Oistoceras figulinum by Howarth (1955); it was recombined as Aegoceras (Oistoceras) figulinum by Meister (1986); it was recombined as Androgynoceras (Oistoceras) figulinum by Wittler and Roth (2003).
