Eophrynus was named by Woodward (1871). Its type is Curculioides prestvicii.
It was assigned to Pseudoscorpiones by Stur (1877); and to Eophrynidae by Petrunkevitch (1945), Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Ambrose and Romano (1972), Brauckmann et al. (1985), Brauckmann et al. (2003), Dunlop et al. (2013) and Dunlop and Garwood (2014).
It was assigned to Pseudoscorpiones by Stur (1877); and to Eophrynidae by Petrunkevitch (1945), Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Ambrose and Romano (1972), Brauckmann et al. (1985), Brauckmann et al. (2003), Dunlop et al. (2013) and Dunlop and Garwood (2014).
