Phalangiotarbus subovalis

Taxonomy
Architarbus subovalis was named by Woodward (1872). Its type specimen is TCD F103/SC (neotype) and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Cornfield pit, south bank of river Calder, near Padiham, which is in a Westphalian A interdistributary bay shale in the Lower Coal Measures Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Phalangiotarbus.

It was recombined as Phalangiotarbus subovalis by Pocock (1911), Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Dunlop and Horrocks (1997) and Dunlop et al. (2013).
