Dolichophonus loudonensis
Taxonomy
Palaeophonus loudonensis was named by Laurie (1899). Its type specimen is RSM 1897.32.196 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Gutterford Burn Eurypterid bed, Pentland Hills, which is in a Telychian offshore sandstone in the Reservoir Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Dolichophonus.
It was recombined as Dolichophonus loudonensis by Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Kjellesvig-Waering (1986) and Dunlop et al. (2013).
