Eodipoena baltica was named by Petrunkevitch (1946). Its type specimen is AMNH 26261 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (AMNH collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Eomysmena baltica by Petrunkevitch (1958), Marusik and Penney (2004) and Dunlop et al. (2013).
