Polyzoa was named as a phylum.

It was synonymized subjectively with Bryozoa by Zrzavy et al. (1998); it was reranked as the unranked clade Polyzoa by Edgecombe et al. (2011) and Nielsen (2012).

It was assigned to Spiralia by Edgecombe et al. (2011) and Nielsen (2012).
