Crossalosia was named by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 400]. Its type is Productus buchianus.

It was assigned to Strophalosiinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Dasyalosiinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
