Taxonomy
Cyphomena (Cyphomenoidea) was named by Cocks (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: S (Ldov-u) S (Ldov-u). Refs 24, 27]. Its type is Leptaena wisgoriensis.

It was corrected as Cyphomena (Cyphomenoides) by Jones et al. (1969) and Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was Bellimurina (Cyphomenoidea) by Williams et al. (2000); it was reranked as Cyphomenoidea by Sepkoski (2002); it was synonymized subjectively with Bellimurina by Hoel (2011).

It was assigned to Cyphomena by Cocks (1968) and Jones et al. (1969); to Leptaeninae by Bassett and Cocks (1974); to Bellimurina by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
