Taxonomy
Protolycosa anthracophila was named by Roemer (1866). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Kattowitz, which is in a Westphalian A interdistributary bay mudstone in Poland. It is the type species of Protolycosa.

It was corrected as Protolycosa anthracophyla by Roemer (1866).
