Taxonomy
Lytoceras audax was named by Meneghini (1881). It is the type species of Audaxlytoceras.

It was recombined as Audaxlytoceras audax by Alkaya and Meister (1995), Géczy and Meister (1998), Hillebrandt (2006) and Tongtherm et al. (2016).
