Ammonites bifrons was named by Bruguiere (1792). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Hildoceras bifrons by Guex (1972), Howarth (1992), Géczy and Szente (2006), Bécaud (2006), Delsate and Weis (2010) and Benzaggagh et al. (2022).
