Aegoceras lorioli was named by Hug (1899). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Epideroceras lorioli by Alkaya and Meister (1995), Blau (1998), Meister and Friebe (2003), Edmunds et al. (2003) and Zaitsev and Ippolitov (2023).
