Taxonomy
Ammonites cornucopia was named by Young and Bird (1822). It is the type species of Thysanoceras.

It was recombined as Thysanoceras cornucopia by Hyatt (1867); it was recombined as Lytoceras cornucopia by Howarth (1962), Delsate and Weis (2010) and Kovács (2011).
