Nasutoceratops was named by Sampson et al. (2013). Its type is Nasutoceratops titusi. It is the type genus of Nasutoceratopsini.
It was assigned to Centrosaurinae by Sampson et al. (2013) and Evans and Ryan (2015); and to Nasutoceratopsini by Ryan et al. (2017).
