Taxonomy

Leangella was named by Opik (1933).

It was assigned to Leptestiinae by Opik (1933); to Leptestiininae by Bassett and Cocks (1974); to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Leptestiidae by Jin and Chatterton (1997), Williams et al. (2000), Cocks (2005), Cocks (2010), Rubel (2011) and Hints and Harper (2015).

Synonyms

Opikella is a genus. It is not extant. Its type is Opikella tvaerensis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Leangella by Williams et al. (2000).

Diambonia was named by Cooper and Kindle (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l O Ashg-u Sepkoski's reference number: 25,538].

It was synonymized subjectively with Leangella by Mitchell (1977) and Williams et al. (2000).

It was assigned to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
Leangella was named by Opik (1933).
