It was assigned to Pteriacea by Newell (1965), Vokes (1980) and Chiesa et al. (1995); to Pterioida by Carter (1990), Coan et al. (2000), Spencer et al. (2004) and Scholz et al. (2008); to Isognomoidea by Nevesskaja (2009); to Malleidae by Carter et al. (2011); and to Pterioidea by Ward (1992), Stilwell (1998), Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006), Bouchet et al.
