Dipoena dominicana was named by Wunderlich (1986). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber, La Toca mine (SMF coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the La Toca Formation of the Dominican Republic.
