Taxonomy

Leptodus was named by Kayser (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-m P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 7,936]. Its type is Leptodus richthofeni.

It was assigned to Lyttoniinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms

Poikilosakos tongluensis was named by Liang (1990). It is a mold. Its type locality is Lengwu, upper Shiziling Member, Tonglu, which is in a Capitanian coastal marl/limestone in the Lengwu Formation of China.
