HOLOTYPE. LACM 140628, isolated left M4. HYPODIGM. The holotype only.

Taxonomy
Patene campbelli was named by Goin and Candela (2004) [n. sp.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa (LACM Loc. 6289), which is in a Rupelian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Yahuarango Formation of Peru.

Differs from Patene simpsoni Paula Couto, 1952b, in its smaller size and by the presence, in M4, of a more reduced metacone and less developed anterobasal cingulum. It differs from Patene colhuapiensis Simpson, 1935, by its smaller size and by having M4 with persistent anterobasal cingulum, paraconule and metacone more developed,and trigon basin wider.
