Taxonomy
Pteronites magnus was named by Biakov (2013). Its type specimen is KGU 39/14639, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Ledyanaya river, left bank of the Bolshaya Avlondya river (KGU coll), which is in an Asselian carbonate limestone in the Nam Formation of the Russian Federation.
