Grallator angustidigitus

Taxonomy
Prototrisauropus angustidigitus was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Seaka tracksite (zone A/3), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial sandstone in the Elliot Formation of Lesotho.

It was recombined as Grallator angustidigitus by Olsen and Galton (1984).

P. Ellenberger 1972Cet animal aux caractères generlques déjà définis plus haut, se remarque par la minceur (étroitesse) des coussinets phalangiens, quelquefois difficiles à distinguer les uns des autres.
- PES: Longueur du pied, 250 mm (du doigt Il, 115 mm; de III, 175 mm;
de IV, 160 mm +; projection de III en avant du bout des doigts latéraux, 108 mm). Largeur du pied entre l'extrémité des doigts latéraux, 143 mm. Divarication totale Il-IV, 47* (Il-Ill, 22°; Ill-IV , 25°).Les coussinets de phalanges sont peu marqués. On aperçoit une sorte de coussinet exceptionnel à l'origine du IIIème doigt (articulation du métapode). L'arrière du pied est peu enfoncé, et le faux "talon" est en général escamoté au sol; mais la cambrure du doigt IV jusqu'à ce "talon", et l'indépendance du IIIème doigt étalé du côté interne du pied sont typiques du genre.
- MANUS: Invisible.
- PISTE: Enjambée, 2, la m - 2,30 m (Pas = 1,05 à 1,15; exceptionnellement 0,94 m), Ped. angulatio, 5 à 13°, mais davantage en début de piste. Ecartement, 0,13 m: la démarche se fait donc oscillante (dandinement) surtout en début de piste (peut être départ depuis l'eau; cf. Fig. 61, A). On observe également une glissade ou dérapage sur l'une des pistes.
